NSH Police Check Flow

NSH Police Check Flow

Police Information Checks are required every three years by all volunteers involved in the coaching of the players for the safety and proper mentorship of the players. There are NO exceptions. The application for Police Information Checks through the Edmonton Police Service online site is managed through the North SEERA Police Check Coordinator and the cost covered by North SEERA.

Email the North SEERA hockey Police Check Coordinator at policechecks@northseera.ca with the following information:

1. Full Legal Name (as displayed on ID).

2. Preferred email address.

3. Position: Head or Assistant coach.

An email with a pre-paid link will be emailed to the coach from “policesolutions”. TWO forms of government issued identification are required to complete the process.

Clearance letters are sent DIRECTLY TO THE COACH. North SEERA does NOT receive the letter and cannot update our records until the coach forwards the letter to the Police Checks Coordinator.

Approximately 10% of applicants are required to follow up in person to the Edmonton Police Service Police Information Check office for fingerprint confirmation. This may be due to a similar name or date of birth as someone on police records. This follow-up can be done at:

108, 14315 118 Ave Nexus Business Park

Hours of Operation:

Monday to Wednesday – 8:00am to 12:00 pm; 01:00 pm to 4:30pm;

Thursday closed (fingerprinting at SE Division)

Friday – 8:00am to 12:00pm;

CLOSED on weekends and statutory holidays

After your follow-up you will either:

1. Be cleared and no additional action needed (the clearance letter will be sent directly to NSH, but if you receive this yourself be sure to get copy to NSH President or Police Check Coordinator.

2. Receive a letter indicating findings (letter will be sent to yourself) and you will need to decide:

a. if you want NSH to review and assess the findings and determine if you will still be approved by NSH to remain a coach and provide your letter to the NSH President or Police Check Coordinator.

b. if you will step down as a coach (please advise NSH President)

NSH review of findings (if requested by you):

1. NSH President will work with the NSH Police Check Coordinators and NSH Hockey Director to assess the significance of the findings in the context of the well-being of our young players and determine if you will be approved to coach.

2. Findings are considered on a risk to players and NSH.

3. You will be advised by NSH as to the status of your approval (confidentially)
