Evaluation Process
Our evaluation process is designed to gradually introduce players to the drills and assessments they will complete.
1. Alpha Skates
- Players are grouped alphabetically by last name.
- Coaches will run players through the evaluation drills in a relaxed setting.
- This session is designed to help players feel comfortable before formal evaluations begin.
2. Skills Evaluation Skates
- Players will complete a series of drills designed to assess skating, puck handling, passing, shooting, and other fundamental skills.
- Sports Evaluations will provide third-party evaluators to score and grade players from the stands.
3. Game Play Evaluations
- Players participate in scrimmages to assess in-game skills such as positioning, decision-making, hockey sense, and competitiveness.
- Evaluators and coaches will observe and adjust groupings as needed to ensure fair placement.
- Movement between groups is possible throughout the evaluation process.
Goaltender Evaluation Details
Goaltenders will participate in the three game-play evaluation skates. These sessions are used to assess goalie performance in realistic game scenarios.
If your child intends to be a full-time goaltender this season, please confirm their attendance for the goalie evaluation by emailing Kyle Morrill at goaliecamp@northseera.ca. Be sure to copy your division's director on the message:
-
U11: u11@northseera.ca
-
U13: u13@northseera.ca
Full-time goaltenders do not need to attend the player technical skates, as these sessions are designed for evaluating skaters only.
