North SEERA’s Initiation program includes hockey players aged 4, 5, and 6. We offer three progressive levels to support new and developing players:
- Discovery: Brand new skaters and first-year players. One ice time per weekend. (Ages 4–6)
- Junior: New-to-hockey players with basic skating experience. One ice time per weekend. (Ages 5–6)
- Senior: Typically age 6 with hockey experience. Two ice times per week — Saturday practice and Sunday game.
The season runs from early October to early March. Two or more preseason evaluation skates are held in September to help us form teams.
After evaluations, players are assigned to teams of 7–12 players with at least two coaches. Teams in each category (Discovery, Junior, Senior) share the ice for their sessions.
Midseason movement may occur to align older or more advanced players with appropriate peer groups.
The season may also include two TIMBITS Jamborees — one during the December holiday break and one at the end of the season in March.
Volunteering
North SEERA was founded in 1986 and continues to thrive thanks to our amazing volunteers. From coaches and managers to jersey parents and behind-the-scenes help — volunteers are the heartbeat of our program.
If you’re new to hockey, we encourage you to get involved. It’s a great way to stay active, meet new families, and make a real impact on your child’s hockey journey.
