North SEERA’s Initiation program consists of hockey players aged 4, 5, and 6. North SEERA has three programs Initiation Discover, Junior, and Senior. The Discovery group is made up of new skaters and first year players who will have one ice time per weekend (usually aged 4 and 5). The senior group is made up of older or experienced players who will have two ice times per weekend (usually aged 5 and 6).
The season runs from approximately the beginning of October through to early March. Several pre-season evaluation skates take place in September to help in the formation of the Initiation groups.
Following the evaluation players are assigned a team with coaches and team mates about 8-10 players per team and 2-3 coaches per team. Four teams will practise together in groups. We will make some changes to the teams and groups as the season progresses to ensure players are still challenged.
The season may include 2 TimBits Jamborees (tournaments), a December Holiday Jamboree and a March Year-end Jamboree. A year-end hockey party is also organized.
North SEERA has a long and prestigious history. You are joining a largely volunteer organization that was formed in 1986 and operates minor hockey programs for young hockey players aged 4 and up.
Volunteering is essential to ensure that the program runs and I would encourage you to step up this year and volunteer! Volunteering is a rewarding endeavor, a great way to meet like-minded individuals, make new friends, and even get a little exercise.
