Here are the most common questions we get from families each season. If you still have questions after reading through these, don’t hesitate to reach out to your division director or team manager.
We currently offer community hockey for players in U7 through U13. Teams are divided by birth year, and players are evaluated at the start of each season for appropriate placement.
Ice times vary by division and tier. Expect 2–4 ice times per week, usually split between practices and games. U9, U11 and U13 teams also get extra development sessions throughout the year.
Players go through evaluation skates at the start of the season. Teams are built using evaluation scores, with some input from coaches and division directors to ensure balanced teams and appropriate tiering.
We introduce goaltending starting in U9 with rotating goalies and optional goalie camps. U11 and U13 have full-time goaltenders, and goalie development is provided throughout the season.
Registration fees cover practices, games, league registration, ice time, referees, and base-level development sessions. Some teams may also collect additional seed money to cover tournaments and team events.
Full hockey equipment is required, including a CSA-approved helmet with cage, neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, pants, shin guards, socks, skates, and a stick. See our Equipment Tips page for help with sizing and fitting.
Each family must earn 2 volunteer points per registered player. This includes team roles like coach, manager, or timekeeper. Every team is also assigned one bingo per season. See our Volunteer Requirements page for full details.
