Police Check Information & Requirements
This is a requirement for individuals seeking to work with North SEERA players. No exceptions.
All team officials must complete a Police Information Check (with Vulnerable Sector Search) through Edmonton Police Services every three years. This process is fully paid for by North SEERA and managed by our Police Check Coordinator.
Why It’s Required
Police Checks are used to ensure the safety and well-being of our players. Coaches and volunteers will not be permitted on the bench or ice until this process is complete and approved.
Eligibility & Validity
- Required for all Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Trainers
- Valid for 3 years — must reapply every third season
- Only Police Checks from local law enforcement (e.g., EPS, RCMP) are accepted
How to Start the Process
Email policechecks@northseera.ca with the following information:
- Full legal name (as shown on ID)
- Preferred email address
- Your position (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, etc.)
- Your team name (if known)
You’ll then receive a pre-paid link from "policesolutions" to complete your Police Check online.
What You’ll Need
- Two pieces of valid government-issued ID (one must include a photo)
- Access to the email address you provided when requesting the check
After You Apply
- Your clearance letter will be sent directly to you — not to North SEERA
- You must forward your clearance letter to policechecks@northseera.ca to complete the process
If You’re Asked for Follow-Up
Roughly 10% of applicants may be flagged for in-person fingerprinting due to a name match. If this applies to you, you must visit:
Police Information Check Section – Nexus Business Park
108, 14315 118 Ave, Edmonton
Hours:
Mon–Wed: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Thu: Closed (fingerprinting at SE Division)
Fri: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
New to Edmonton?
If you’ve moved to Edmonton within the past year, you must submit a completed Police Information Check from your previous jurisdiction (RCMP, Calgary Police, etc.). Send results to policechecks@northseera.ca.
What Happens if Findings Are Reported?
- You may receive a letter outlining findings
- You can choose to submit the letter to the NSH Police Check Coordinator for review or step down from your coaching role
- If reviewed, the NSH President, Police Check Coordinator, and Hockey Director will assess whether it poses a risk to players
- All reviews are confidential and handled with care
